Agent: Terrelle Pryor expected to make full recovery after stabbing

Free-agent receiver Terrelle Pryor is expected to make a full recovery after he was stabbed early Saturday morning, according to his agent.

Pryor was stabbed in the chest and shoulder at his Pittsburgh apartment and underwent surgery, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Police say Pryor arrived at the hospital in critical condition by private means just after 4:30 a.m. ET.

Family members are with Pryor at the hospital, according to Gregory Diulus of Vantage Management Group, which represents Pryor. They have been told he's expected to make a full recovery. Diulus said he expects to see Pryor on Sunday.

"Shalaya Briston, 24, of Munhall, PA was arrested and has been charged with criminal attempt homicide and aggravated assault," the police said in a statement.

Briston was also injured in the altercation but police didn't describe the injury. Authorities arrested Pryor, who faces a charge of simple assault.

Pryor, 30, entered the league in 2011 and has played with the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, Washington Redskins, Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.

He hasn't played this season after he was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars in September.

"As a program, we had tremendous momentum coming into the 2019 season with the opening of the new south end zone facility as well as other strategic investments in our football program," Missouri athletic director Jim Sterk said in a statement. "However, we lost a great deal of that energy during the last half of the season. This decision was difficult to make but was necessary."

(CNN)Alelia Murphy, a 114-year-old former seamstress who'd been recognized as the oldest living American, has died.

Murphy, a New Yorker who was drawn to the city by the Harlem Renaissance, died Saturday, confirmed her granddaughter, Nefer Nekhet.

"It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of Mrs. Alelia Murphy," the health care workers' union 1199SEIU, of which Murphy's daughter was a member, said Wednesday in a statement.

"Mrs. Murphy was the oldest living American, having celebrated her 114th birthday in July, surrounded by her family, friends, community leaders, and members of our AFRAM Caucus."

Nation's winningest football coach John McKissick dead at 93

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. -- John McKissick, whose 621 victories at South Carolina's Summerville High made him the nation's winningest football coach at any level, has died at age 93.

Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers says McKissick had been in hospice care and died Thursday surrounded by family. The longtime coach retired in 2014 after 62 seasons.

Brouthers said McKissick's birth year is listed as 1929, although his biography has him born three years earlier on Sept. 25, 1926.

McKissick had a career record of 621-155-13 at Summerville from 1952 through 2014. He won 10 South Carolina state championships, the last one coming in 1998.

In 2003, McKissick became the first coach to reach 500 victories. He won his 600th game in 2012, when he was carried off the field by his players.

Esper says Trump ordered him to allow Gallagher to keep his Trident pin and remain a SEAL

(CNN)Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said President Donald Trump ordered him to allow a controversial Navy SEAL accused of war crimes to keep his status in the elite service, despite resistance from Navy leaders.

Esper said that on Sunday Trump "gave me an order" that Eddie Gallagher would retain his Trident, the pin worn by Navy SEALS that symbolizes their membership in the elite military community.

"The case of Eddie Gallagher has dragged on for months and has distracted too many. It must end," Esper said Monday. "Eddie Gallagher will retain his Trident as the Commander in Chief directed and will retire at the end of this month."

'Secret agreement'

Esper spoke a day after he fired Navy Secretary Richard Spencer over Gallagher, who has been implicated in war crimes whose case has raised tensions among the military leaders and the White House.

"Contrary to the narrative that some want to put forward in the media, this dismissal is not about Eddie Gallagher, it's about Secretary Spencer and the chain of command," Esper said Monday.

Esper said he spoke to Trump "once or twice on Saturday" and been in contact with other military leaders, including the chairman of the joint chiefs, Gen. Mark Milley.

"I recall for certain on Sunday when I talked to the President to update him on the situation where he said, 'what about the pin, I want Eddie's' — he wanted Eddie Gallagher's pin restored and I said, 'Roger, I got it.' "

Rick Perry says Trump was 'ordained by God' to be president

(CNN)Like a lot of evangelical Christians, Energy Secretary Rick Perry believes in a God who gets involved in every aspect of our lives -- including the election of Donald Trump as President.

"I'm a big believer that the God of our universe is still very active in the details of the day-to-day lives of government," Perry told Fox News in remarks aired on Sunday.

"You know, Barack Obama doesn't get to be the President of the United Sates without being ordained by God. Neither did Donald Trump."

Perry went on to say that being God's instrument on Earth doesn't mean that Trump is a perfect person. Echoing the argument of other white evangelical Christians, the Texas Republican went on to cite several biblical figures, including King David, whose private lives didn't always align with biblical standards.

Perry is just the latest evangelical Christian in the Trump administration to say they believe the President is divinely ordained.

In February, former White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said that God "wanted Donald Trump to become president and that's why he's there." A month later, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo joined the chorus, saying it's possible God raised Donald Trump to be President in order to protect Israel from Iran.
