Anne Cox Chambers, media heiress and former US ambassador, has died at 100

(CNN)Anne Cox Chambers, who with her sister took over the family media conglomerate that became Cox Enterprises and once served as US ambassador to Belgium, died Friday at her Atlanta home at the age of 100, the company said.

Chambers and her sister Barbara Cox Anthony in the 1970s became controlling owners of the newspaper, TV and radio empire founded by their father, three-term Ohio governor and onetime presidential candidate James M. Cox.

Forbes estimated her net worth at $17 billion in 2016. Two years earlier, she was Georgia's richest person -- one of only six women at the time to lead their state in net worth, according to global wealth-tracking company Wealth-X.

"My aunt, a vivacious and charismatic woman, was very proud of Cox Enterprises' success and the accomplishments of its employees," Jim Kennedy, Cox Enterprises chairman and Chambers' nephew, said.

Ellen DeGeneres and Alicia Keys present $20,000 scholarship to Texas teen told to cut his dreadlocks or miss graduation

CNN)Ellen DeGeneres and Alicia Keys are lending support to a Texas teenager who was told that he won't get to walk at graduation if he doesn't cut his dreadlocks.

The singer presented DeAndre Arnold with a check for $20,000 to go toward his college education when he appeared on "The Ellen Show" Wednesday."I'm super proud of you for doing what you know is right," Keys said. "I know the school needs to do the right thing."

Arnold, 18, is a senior at Barbers Hill High School in Mont Belvieu, Texas, east of Houston, but he hasn't been to school for several days. Just before the start of winter break in December, the Barbers Hill Independent School District, which Arnold's high school is a part of, told his family that if he didn't cut his dreadlocks he would be barred from walking at graduation.

Former Patriots defensive lineman Larry Eisenhauer dies at 79

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. —

A former Patriots player who was with the franchise when it was still based in Boston has died

Former Boston Patriots defensive end Larry Eisenhauer died on Wednesday at the age of 79, according to the New England Patriots.

Eisenhauer played nine seasons for the Patriots from 1961 through 1969. He was a four-time American Football League All-Star selection, three-time AFL All-Pro and a member of the Patriots 1960s All-Decade Team.

He was an AFL All-Star on the field, but made an ever greater impact in the New England community as a Patriots ambassador, always eager to volunteer for our many alumni initiatives. On behalf of my family and the New England Patriots organization, we express our sincerest sympathies to Larry’s family, former teammates and the many friends who will mourn his loss.”

Eisenhauer was born Feb. 22, 1940, in Hicksville, New York, and graduated from Chaminade High School in Mineola.

He was a standout at Boston College and was inducted into the BC Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame in 1978.

Eisenhauer was drafted in the sixth round by the Boston Patriots in 1961 and played in 115 regular season games and two playoff contests for the team. He racked up 47.5 sacks in his Patriots career, the eighth-most in franchise history, and led the team in that category for four straight seasons from 1962 through 1965.
