Paul Volcker, former Fed chairman who fought inflation, dies at 92

New York (CNN Business)Paul Volcker, the former chairman of the Federal Reserve known for his battles against inflation in the late 1970s and early 1980s, has died. He was 92.
The Volcker Alliance, a government advocacy group for which Volcker was the chairman, confirmed his death.
Paul Adolph Volcker Jr. was an American economist. He was Chairman of the Federal Reserve under Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan from August 1979 to August 1987. He is widely credited with ending the high levels of inflation seen in the United States during the 1970s and early 1980s. Wikipedia
