Pedaling For Prevention: Bike tour spreads suicide awareness

CHESTERFIELD, N.H. — While touring New England on bicycle, two local high school students personally affected by suicide will raise awareness about preventing it.
Mike Mariani, 16, of Spofford, N.H., and Devin McLaughlin, 17, of Chesterfield, N.H., who attend Keene, N.H., High School, left Sunday.
"I'm feeling great and ready for the road ahead," Devin said.
Mike's brother Nathan would have graduated from Keene High School the night before the ride started. He died by suicide in 2018 at the age of 16.
During their trip, Mike and Devin will be handing out brochures and sharing information online as they raise money for The Samaritans, a suicide prevention agency that can be found at samaritansnh.org. Contributions can be provided via venmo.com/pedalingforprevention2020 and gofundme.com/f/sq26t-pedaling-for-prevention or by mailing check or money to Pedaling For Prevention, c/o Savings Bank of Walpole, PO Box 744, Keene, N.H., 03431.
